A Bit of Flotsam

28 Apr

So…today is my birthday and I’ll be spending it all alone.

Am I sad about it?

NO! I’m happy to be alone because I’ll be with “my people,” old people. For 4 glorious days I will be watching classic films, hanging out with octogenarians, wearing cute clothes and rubbing elbows with movie stars…the kind of movie stars I like. Ones that made GOOD movies!

I will also be interviewed by TCM for a filler piece in between movies on their channel, they’re called “My Retrospective” AND I’m filming it at the Gable and Lombard penthouse suit at the Roosevelt Hotel today…actually as you are reading this, that is happening. BALLER!!!

When I told people at work that I was going on vacation alone they thought that was really sad. You will see in future blogs chronicling these events that I’m not a “bit of flotsam in the sea of life, a pitiful outcast…”but someone who’s having a vacation WAY cooler than they ever take.

(This is  a reference to an “I Love Lucy’ episode where she spends her birthday alone and is upset about it…the opposite of myself.)
